England Rugby Betting in the Autumn Internationals

Paul Sackey

Always worth a fiver as first tryscorer

Martin Johnson’s new-look England side take on Australia, South Africa and New Zealand this autumn in what will be the ultimate test of this young side.

The big three Southern Hemisphere teams lead the way in world rugby and occupy the top three places in the IRB World Rankings, whilst England currently sit in fourth.

England are currently marginal favourites to beat Australia, arguably the weaker of the three giants, available at 10/11 with Boylesports. This is worth taking, since Robbie Deans’ Wallabies are unlikely to cope with the ferocious power in England’s pack - Andrew Sheridan should take Al Baxter apart for the third time!

South Africa will be a different story however. The World Champions are always difficult to beat and notoriously strong in the forwards. If they can compete well up front, England have a good chance of coming away with a victory - the pace of the back three in Delon Armitage, Paul Sackey and Ugo Monye could be the difference and I fancy Johnno’s men to make it three out of three.

Frankly, I can’t see the clean sweep unfortunately, as the All Blacks stand in the way of a potentially perfect start for England Rugby’s new era. Three out of four would not be bad, and I’m backing victories against Australia and the Springboks, but defeat to New Zealand.

In every game, I’ll be backing Paul Sackey as first tryscorer - he’s at 12/1 with Boylesports, who clearly haven’t been paying attention to the last few England games when Sackey has been the deadliest finisher on the park.
