Champions League Quarter-final Betting

Steven Gerrard

The first legs of the Champions League quarter finals begin tonight, and there may be one or two opportunities to out-smart the bookies.

Manchester United travel to Roma tonight, with Schalke 04 v Barcelona the other Tuesday fixture.  Tomorrow, Chelsea visit Fenerbahce, whilst most eyes will be on the Arsenal v Liverpool showdown.

Tonight, Roma are without captain Francesco Totti, their primary goal-scoring threat.  Last season, the Reds put 7 goals past the same opposition, but it’s difficult to see them scoring many tonight.  In the last two encounters, neither team has scored more than one goal, and with Roma’s weakened strikeforce, a 1-0 Away win looks like the best bet.

Bet365 are offering 13/2 on United to win 1-0, and it’s generally available at 6/1 with Boylesports and Extrabet.

Everyone is getting excited by the Arsenal v Liverpool game on Wednesday, not least the bookies.  However, predictions are almost impossible in situations like this where the stakes are so high and the atmosphere is electric - they are normally games to avoid!

However, Boylesports are offering a Money Back Special called ‘Captain Fantastic’ - they will refund all losing losing first/last/anytime goalscorer, correct score & half time/full time bets on this match if Steven Gerrard scores the last goal.

That means that I’ve gone for a 1-1 draw (at 11/2), with the guarantee of a refund if Gerrard produces one of his customary last-minute wonder-strikes!

As always, let us know if you have any sure-fire tips to share with everyone else, and enjoy the footie.
