Championship Betting: Blackpool v Preston – Sky Sports 1, 8pm

After a weekend of Premier League action which didn’t fail to live up to the hype attentions now turn to the Championship and a Lancashire derby which offers The Betting Blog’s first ever five star bet…
Blackpool are currently amid their best start to a season in seven years and are on the cusp of a play-off place currently residing eighth in the table. However, such is the competitiveness of the Championship – 10 teams are split by just four points – that Preston who occupy 13th place can draw level on points with a victory tonight.
However, The Lillywhites are in a bad run of form at present, they have won just once in their last eight outings and have failed to score in their last two. Whilst Blackpool have yet to lose a game at home this season conceding just three goals in the process – the meanest home defence in the league.
All the statistics point to a narrow home win and given that three of the last four meetings between these sides have had no more than a solitary goal there may not be much to get excited about here. But Preston looked an improved side against Newcastle last Monday and were more than a match for the league leaders, I couldn’t advise backing Blackpool at around 11/10 with most bookies.
The main focus has to be the goals markets, as I pointed out Blackpool just do not concede at home whilst Preston are struggling to find the back of the net of late. The Over/Under 2.5 goals market on the exchanges offers one of the best bets of the weekend and I cannot advise this one strongly enough, that is why I am offering The Betting Blog’s first ever five star bet……

A five star bet! I’m on it. Thanks for the tip, and it does seem to make sense.
I won’t remortgage the house just yet, but hopefully it will come in!

A goal after 25 seconds never helps the cause when betting on Under 2.5 goals and made for an uncomfortable 90 minutes! Nevertheless it is a winning bet and that is what matters.
Hope some of you made a a buck or two.

I wasnt too confident after that early goal and it was odd watching a football game and hoping there wouldn’t be any goals! Luckily the 2nd half wasn’t nearly as exciting as the first and the bet came in. Good work!
