Europa League betting: Everton & Celtic field weakened teams, but we’re in for a thriller in Genoa

It is difficult to get too excited about tonight’s games involving British teams as both are dead rubbers for different reasons…..

Everton v BATE

Tony Hibbert will captain a much changed Everton side, David Moyes’ men have secured qualification and are unable to catch Benfica at the top and are expected to field a youthful looking side.

Although a number of Everton youngsters have impressed when called upon in the last few weeks I feel tonight’s game may be more of a learning experience than a display of the finished article. On the other hand Moyes will be keen not to lose the game now that they have begun turning the corner on the domestic scene and the draw at 14/5 with Extrabet looks a good bet.

Rapid Vienna v Celtic

The Celtic hierarchy have also alluded to the fact that they will field a lot of their fringe players in tonight’s game. Whilst Rapid Vienna coach Peter Pacult has commented that it is important to say “thank you” to the fans in what is their final game before a winter break.

The game will be played in front of almost 50,000 fans at the Austrian national stadium which has been the home of Rapid’s European games throughout this campaign. Given the circumstances I believe a full strength Celtic side would struggle here so a team of fringe players have to be worth taking on by backing Rapid at the 6/5 with Ladbrokes.

Genoa v Valencia

ESPN subscribers should be in for an early evening treat with this game as neither side have secured qualification and Genoa must go all out for the win. Valencia are the joint top scorers outside of the big two in La Liga and they can also welcome David Villa back from suspension for this game.

Genoa are the third top scorer is Serie A and given that they must go all out for the win here we should see an open game which should again lead to plenty of goals. Over 2.5 goals is available at 10/11 with 888sport.com and looks a good starter to the night’s action.
