Premier League Betting: Liverpool v Arsenal

Whilst Robin van Persie remains sidelined for Arsenal, Fernando Torres makes his long awaited return for Liverpool, but will that be enough to take victory?

It may well be, but at the odds offered up by the bookies there is only one place that my money will be going. Torres undoubtedly makes a big difference to the Liverpool side, both in terms of his goal scoring threat and the style of football the team play when he is available as an outlet. But to suggest that they are an 11/10 chance of winning this game whilst Arsenal are as big as 5/2 is nonsensical.

Yes they miss Robin van Persie and yes they have struggled in recent weeks, but they are still a top quality side who have a number of match winners at their disposal. If they are to have any real title aspirations this season – which Arsene Wenger claims they do – then they must pounce on the opportunities that this weekend’s other results have thrown up.

Liverpool may win this one but the odds are completely wrong in my opinion, although they beat Everton last week the result masked what was yet another poor performance, they then went on to lose to Fiorentina in midweek and have now won just twice in their last nine games.

If you want to take a slightly more conservative approach then you can back Arsenal (Draw No Bet) at 2.6 (13/8) on Betfair, or Lay Liverpool at the 2.2 (6/5) also available with Betfair, but for me this is an opportunity to get stuck into the big price available on Arsenal.
