Premier League Darts Betting: The Finals

Phil Taylor, Raymond van Barneveld, Gary Anderson and Adrian Lewis will battle for the Premier League Darts crown this evening…

Taylor is the strong favourite to retain the title that he won 12 months ago. However, at odds of 4/11 with tournament sponsors 888sport, there is no value in backing The Power here.

Although the 15-time World Champion has won 13 Premier League games on the bounce he did lose twice at the weekend’s Players Championship events. Both John Part and Vincent van der Voort were able to defeat Taylor in Austria suggesting that if any player can bring their A-game to the stage tonight then Taylor could be fallible.

The value of the market comes in the shape of the big Dutchman at odds of 11/1. Regular followers of The Betting Blog may remember that we tipped up Barney for Premier League glory at odds of 16/1 prior to the tournament commencing. Hopefully some of you got on, but it’s not too late if you didn’t as he still represents value at double-figure odds.

Barney plays Anderson in the second semi-final of the night. Having finished above the Scot in the Premier League table it is the five-time World Champion that goes into tonight’s match in the better form.

The Dutchman is unbeaten in the last five weeks of Premier League action and also defeated Anderson twice over the course of the group stages. He is an 11/8 chance to make it a hat trick of wins.

If he does get to the final then he may face Taylor, in which case I would have little confidence in Barney emerging victorious – van Barneveld has yet to rediscover the mental psyche needed to beat Taylor. Yet, we would still have a value bet at odds of 11/1.

If, however, it were Lewis that he meets in the final then we would be looking at an even money match-up, with the bookmakers unlikely to be able to separate the pair. At which point we would obviously be extremely happy with our 11/1 on Barney.

This of course all depends upon him beating Anderson in the semis. But the value bet of the night has to be to back the Dutchman. If he can hit his doubles early on then his confidence levels will rise and he could go all the way.

Recommended Bets:
Back van Barneveld to win @ 11/1
Back van Barneveld to beat Anderson @ 11/8
